“Ghostbusters II” recieved a handsome amount of poor press when it was first released, but it is a charming, well produced and yes, droll sequel to the first blockbuster. The film picks up five years after the fresh. We rep the Ghostbusters out of business and broke, Bill Murray is hosting a bizarre cable access exhibit called “World of the Psychic” and Ackroyd and Ernie Hudson are performing at children’s parties. Aren’t the parents nervous about the GB’s wielding their proton packs around thier youngsters??
The chronicle speeds up when the Ghostbusters reunite and see the soul of an passe tyrant resides in a portrait in a museum. The tyrant, named Vigo has decided to lift possession of Sigourney Weaver’s child so he can live again to rule the world. This spot seems more disturbing than the status in the first film, but director Ivan Reitman gives us plenty of humor to counter balance.
While not as comical as the first film, “Ghostbusters II” proves to be an inspiring follow up to the first classic film. After years of viewing, “Ghostbusters II” reveals itself to be a classic in it’s beget upright.
A lot of the unusual magic is absent in this belated sequel. The storyline isn’t up to remarkable and is never taken plump advantage of. One thing that is sorely missed is the wide, remarkable procure from the first film. The gradual Elmer Bernstein ducked out of scoring this one and (the abominable) Randy Edelman took over. This could have been alright if he respected Bernstein’s work but he conventional none of the themes from the current. It’s all objective light-hearted cues and dullness.

The position takes a backseat to long character explanation and development. The Ghostbusters have been out of business since blowing up Central Park West. Which is total crap! The saved the world from the destruction of Gozer. Why the hell would they go out of business? A totally ridiculous legend that does nothing but aggravate fans of the first. Who on earth conception of this?
Now the Ghostbusters are forbidden from performing public services. But a narrow-minded Mediate wants to send them to jail for causing a massive blackout. Then, 2 ghosts point to up and they bust them and before you can say ‘Who ya gonna call? ‘ they are assist busting undead ass.

Something I win very lifeless and annoying about the situation is that the aforementioned Contemplate and a City Attorney repeatedly say that they do not gain in ghosts. Obviously these guys have forgotten about the 200-foot marshmallow man and the snide explain of Gozer booming all over Manhattan Island.
And this time the villain isn’t as scary as the Gozer. Now we have Vigo, a 14th century madman who wants to return to living originate and has targeted Weaver’s child as his host. He plans to do this before the stroke of midnight on Original Years Eve 1989 or some baloney. For a film that has it’s build-up and climax on Novel Year’s Eve there is no mention Xmas whatsoever. And the ending with the hidden painting is REALLY corny.
Bill Murray was very commence about his distaste for this film when it came out. He said it was pointless and he never really wanted to do it. The Ghostbusters franchise was taken in a distinguished stronger direction with The Sincere Ghostbusters TV present. At least with that they never went out of business for saving the world. Honestly, what stupidity!
However, it was thanks to the TV display that this movie was toned down a bit and more family-friendly. But the TV expose and the first movie have something this film doesn’t; atmosphere.
A scoop of trivia: In the montage with the Ghostbusters running all over Recent York after suddenly coming wait on into Business we scrutinize a clip of Ray driving like a maniac and Peter gives him a unusual peruse. This scene was originally going to follow after the scene in which Ray is hypnotised by the painting of Vigo. The Ectomobile was supposed to break into a tree in Central Park and we peek a shot of the license plate tumble off and Ray arrive out of his trance. But this entire scene was crop from the film and is only left in the montage.
Ghostbusters 2 is to Ghostbusters what MIIB was to MIB. A total relate. Which makes the out-of-business/back-in-business site even more retarded as we have to go through the establishments all over again instead of devoting that time to a stronger, better status.
Filmed in Panavision the DVD is in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen with pleasant Dolby 5.1 sound. There are no extras other than a trailer.

If you or your friends have active children, they will adore the method this series teaches. My friends children are mimicking and repeating the songs and dances and the letters perfectly and with view of the visual meanings, as well as some of the words. Very well produced product.
I purchased one of these at a store for our daughter, unprejudiced to glimpse what it was. She enjoyed watching it. The gigantic thing about it was that it came with a paper fold out way, which went along with the DVD, so in that method, it was interactive, she could follow what the dog (and other) animals were doing, and what letter they were searching for. This status does not maintain the maps, but at this vulgar label for all of them, they will collected screech your kids / toddlers some astronomical lessons.

THE ADVENTURES OF DON JUAN was intended as something of a ‘comeback’ film for Warner Bros. resident ‘bad boy’, combining the daring elements of ‘ROBIN HOOD’ and ‘THE SEA HAWK’ with Flynn’s well-established (by 1948) reputation as a hell-raising womanizer. Unfortunately, the color production was not a box office hit, but the silly adventure is today embraced by his many fans as one of his best roles!

It was not an easy film to make; despite Flynn’s initial attempts to be punctual and a cooperative, he eventually ‘fell off the wagon’, and his carousing and frequent disappearances stretched the filming out by months, forcing frequent reshooting. Director Vincent Sherman, cinematographer Elwood Bredell, and editor Alan Crosland often had to ‘cut-and-paste’ snippets of many takes to execute a decent performance from the star, and careful lighting had to be archaic to play down the increasingly positive effects of the star’s hedonistic lifestyle. (The closing scene, featuring then-wife Nora Eddington, was shot nearly a year before the remainder of the film, and the change in the Flynn’s physical appearance is clearly evident.) At 38, the star, who always hated being called a ‘pretty boy’ (to the extent that his home had few mirrors) was aging quickly, and badly.
All this being said, Flynn tried to give the film his best he could. It had been a landmark film for his friend/mentor John Barrymore, in the first Warners’ film with sound, employed for music and special effects only, in 1926 (THE JAZZ SINGER would introduce ‘talkies’ a year later) . It reunited him with friend and frequent costar Alan Hale, who, at 56, was collected a well-liked character actor, and whose son, Alan Jr., was starting to form his brand around town (he would eventually be best known as the Skipper in ‘Gilligan’s Island’) . The script for DON JUAN passed through many hands, including uncredited succor by William Faulkner and Robert Florey, with the ruin result being marvelously amusing, tongue-in-cheek, and swashbuckling, to boot! The derive, by the legendary Max Steiner, became an instant classic, and would be reused, years later, in George Hamilton’s ZORRO, THE Happy BLADE. On the accelerate, he discovers de Lorca’s ultimate map (manipulating the Crown into war), and with the back of the students of the Academy, he must put the King and Queen.
Featuring a huge early appearance by Raymond Burr (as a de Lorca henchman), and a stirring final duel between Flynn and Douglas (expanded from the 1926 version, and featuring an wonderful climactic stairway jump, performed by stuntman and future ‘Tarzan’ Jock Mahoney), THE ADVENTURES OF DON JUAN is a gloriously adventuresome romp. Sadly, it didn’t do Flynn’s flagging career, but it certainly has earned a plot among his classic films!

Their resident poor boy had long ago musty up any goodwill he might have had with the studio — goodwill based primarily on Flynn’s power at the box office. But in the gradual 1940s, Errol Flynn’s star was on the wane, and the studio was beginning to lift a hard and skeptical examine at their one-time box office bonanza.

In an attempt to rekindle some of the customary fire, Warner Bros. produced “The Adventures of Don Juan,” in which Flynn plays the title role. His Don Juan is world-weary, a man for whom all the loves and swordfights and scandals are beginning to wear him a bit thin. But the most compelling aspect of this Don Juan’s character is his sense of humor. Flynn brings a droll, tongue-in-cheek element to the character that is extraordinarily exciting.
The film is lush and well-appointed. There are times when Flynn shows the effects of years of hard drinking and womanizing, but for the most section he is strikingly elegant. Stunt doubles were frail extensively for him, particularly in the final duel scene. In the shot where Don Juan leaps down a long staircase and lands on top of the villain, future “Yancey Derringer” star Jock Mahoney performed the leap.
“Don Juan” did poorly in the United States and fabulously well in Europe. Its chilly reception at home convinced Warner Brothers that Flynn was no longer a bankable commodity, and considerably less money was spent on his films in the few years he had left under his contract.

But in the intervening years, “The Adventures of Don Juan” has earned a large following among Errol Flynn admirers and movie buffs as well. It is a titanic, droll and thoroughly delectable jaunt with the King of the Swashbucklers, and one that should not be missed.

If you like Will Ferrell, then you will like this movie. People say it was dumb and didn’t accurately describe the series. Well maybe thats because its meant to manufacture you laugh at the slee-stacks not prefer them seriously. And do Ferrell and McBride conjure up images of serious actors? No. Its a Ferrell/McBride and Chaka comedy (oh that Chaka is a thousand laughs…) . With that cast, what did you query? If you like respectable former fashioned amusing comedy, then you will like this movie. I watched it twice in one week. One time sober, the other drunk and had fun both times. Peep it!
Arguably one of the dumbest films this year, and probably one of the biggest tanks this year (budget vs. revenue) . But, Universal tried to obtain up for it here with a packed Blu catered to both the old-fashioned series fans and Will Ferrell/Danny McBride followers.

I will skip the tell review as any competent review out there picks apart the million things detestable with this movie, so that leaves clarity, sound and supplements. The Blu clarity is as solid as can be from Universal, so with that comes the tons of shortcomings on the effects. Not your benchmark demonstrate test for an effects film; the stages reach across fallacious, the green conceal lines are prevalent but the dinos appear fairly realistic. The DTS gets TONS of usage so one can salvage some nice channel variances. The supplements are what give this 2 star film the extra bump.
* 20:20 minutes of deleted scenes. For what this film became, most of these would have bored the kid audience and got cut; the first ten minutes are all character stuff with Ferrel’s persona. The last few minutes would have been more closure on the cherish tale angle. The McBride fans would only accumulate one or two moments here of extra banter from him.

* 83 minutes making-of. Wow – was almost longer than the film. Covers every single aspect of production. Plenty of interviews, area pieces, plot decoration, logistics, wardrobe – everything. Catered to the film-making crowd and buffs who like the looooong documentaries like this.
* 23 microscopic Kroffts interview. A sit down with the both of them as they review everything about the fresh series and their associated works.

I could not rate this higher (a five star) because of the bad assert and listing of awful effects showing through on Blu. But the sound and volume of supplements (catering to a variety of followers) gives this entire package a edifying rating. I am a spacious McBride fan and honestly feel his comedy is utilized design better in Eastbound & Down: The Complete First Season than this mess. Delight In.

I have mixed feelings about this expose, but ultimately, it’s titanic. My 3 year dilapidated daughter loves it. She asks to peer it every day, which is where my mixed feelings approach in. I’m lovely sick of it. But if you’re looking for a present your cramped girl will want to peer, this will work. It has a very short scary share, but my daughter, who is skiddish and makes me hastily forward through scary parts of OTHER movies, is NOT stupefied during this one. I like the message too, it’s basically about helping someone in need. And it’s not too long, about 40 minutes.
My 5, soon to be 6, year used daughter loves all the Holly Hobbie DVDs but this one is her hands down well-liked. She adores the song where the Hey Girls try to dash away summer boredom by pretending they are French Fashion Models. These dvds do tend to have kind of fun, catchy songs and this one is no exception. I like the Holly Hobbie dvds because they are basically wholesome without being too sappy. They order favorable values like helping others, respecting elderly people, and dealing appropriately with conflict, be it between siblings or friends. They may have a couple tense moments but really couldn’t be called scary. They are a expedient plan to balance out they abundance of fairy anecdote princess stuff that overwhelms the girly dvd market with something a microscopic closer to right life. We worship princesses, too, don’t fetch me dismal, but it’s nice to have something that doesn’t involve any magic spells or generically blooming princes for a change.

This is a fabulous series; I am mainly writing this review to point out the fact that the master for the 11th episode is from the TV version, not the version that was on the Japanese DVD releases. Sloppy work from Bandai. Other then that it is a decent release though.
FYI, I’m going to be duplicating this review for the other two parts in this series. I’ve been a hardcore anime fan since the mid 80′s, I even retract a lot of Japanese set odd anime. I’ve watched them all, from ROBOTECH to GaoGaiGar to Witchblade. And Gurren Lagann is a very, very superior anime series. One of the best.

The epic is very well paced, reminiscent of Gunbuster (the unique OVA, not the current series) . Sorry, I’m not going to give away any hint of spoilers in this review. But let me say that the character development and evolution is handled as well as any anime or film I’ve seen.
Gurren Lagann’s style is a mix of Naruto and GaoGaiGar. Familiarize yourself with those series if you haven’t already. Basically it’s unprejudiced Diagram over the top!! It doesn’t matter if it’s the characters, weapons or scale. If the scene can be made any more spectacular, it is. I can’t say enough about this series, other than Engage IT!! Abet this kind of high grade anime!! And hopefully we can earn more astounding anime series like this in the future. Thanks.

This volume of Gundam Seed Destiny is the last one that truly had me at the edge of my seat. The first episode was sadly another mostly slow transition episode. Shinn and Rey are arrested for returning Stella to the enemy. I was never really fond of this belief because for one it was to similar to Kira returning Lacus to ZAFT. Also like Kira, Shinn amazingly gets off scott free for his actions. Athrun meanwhile tries to lecture Shinn but to no avail. As I said not remarkable happens until the last couple minutes when Stella launches in the giant Raze Gundam and starts obliterating everything in view.
The next episode is grand better. The novel Gundam Seed emulated elements from the recent Mobile Suit Gundam series, Gundam Seed Destiny continued this by doing the same with Zeta Gundam, although not as distinguished. Collected a girl being partially controlled mentally and causing havoc with a giant mobile suit, it was aesthetic certain that Stella was a goner. Many fans hated Stella and while I didn’t I also didn’t fancy her either. I fair consider she had potential. If we had learned what made her so crazy in the first station and how she pain up in the hands of the Alliance we would’ve understood her more and maybe felt sorry for her. Plus her counterpart from Zeta Gundam, Four at least was normal when she was outside the Psycho Gundam. Stella on the other hand was nuts every hour on the hour with the reasoning skills of a five year extinct. On a side ticket I appreciate how Cagalli and her beloved followers go on and on about Orb’s ideals but they go against them by getting eager in a fight that doesn’t do the country, making them hypocrites. Meanwhile Neo Roanoke is defeated and captured by the Archangel and we finally recognize him without his cloak. Who was really surprised by that? Considering that the same shriek actor played both parts it wasn’t hard putting the pieces together. I didn’t particularly care for Kira being there, but Athrun really should’ve been out there on the battlefield. I realize the Saviour Gundam was gone, which they should’ve kept around longer on the expose but he could’ve picked up a notify mobile suit somewhere and got out there. Considering how narrative the destruction was you’d thinking he’d be dieing to regain out there to relieve. While I’m not colossal on giant mobile suits I did like the overall make of the Extinguish Gundam.

The next episode is another transition episode. Shinn infuriated over Stella’s demise plots how he’ll catch down the Freedom Gundam once and for all. I answer that Shinn isn’t perfect and that he made some insensible choices in the last couple of episodes. Detached in his defense even if he hadn’t returned Stella to the Alliance they impartial would’ve dilapidated someone else to pilot the End Gundam like Sting. Considering Sting allowed his Chaos Gundam to bag destroyed but a pack of notify suits he probably would’ve been better off in the Ruin Gundam anyway. As naive as Shinn can be though, considering how devastated he was over seeing his family blown to pieces that it would’ve at least crossed his mind that Stella was causing hundreds of others to go through the same thing with all the bodies she left in her wake. Tranquil I’ll dwelling this again as my bottom line, I retract Shinn’s naiveity over Kira’s High and Much attitude. At the ruin of the episode Durandal exposes the organization that Djibril belongs to, Logos to the world. Djibril really is a moron, his predecessor Azrael was unbiased as heartless as he was but at least he was cunning. Djibril basically guaranteed ZAFT’s victory by having all those cities leveled by the Earth Forces. Did it really never occur to him that his enemies would spend the media to turn the world against them? Lastly I have to comment on the annoying flashback montages that occur frequently through out this series. In this episode they present things that we saw impartial in the previous episode, really are the creators that desperate?
The last episode on this disc is probably my current episode of the entire series. ZAFT commences the operation “Angel Down.” Shinn confronts Kira in a one on one duel. This is easily one of the best fights in all of Gundam ever. Many comment that Shinn only won because Kira held relieve. Well I say, that’s the point! The fact that the Impulse is technologically spoiled to the Freedom made Shinn’s victory all the more sweet. Kira wouldn’t allow the Archangel to fight wait on so he was basically fighing all the ZAFT forces alone and whenever the ship took a hit Kira got distracted and Shinn took advantage of that. Shinn went through three different Silhouette Packs for crying out loud. Kira killed Stella, an act that he never recollects about. Considering that he’d been avoiding killing people this whole time you’d believe he’d be bothered by being forced to. Anyway since he was willing to do that why not do the same to Shinn? He said himself getting Cagalli attend to Orb was the most essential thing. By not allowing the Archangel to encourage him and not going all out Kira spot himself up for defeat. It was very luscious to explore him procure kicked off his high horse. Unfortunately this marks Shinn’s final moment of grandeur. The series starting with the next episode starts to go draw down hill. Mild check this volume out if not for the last episode.

The Graduate is a vast film and I grow to cherish it more with each viewing. Everything is nearly perfect about it. The script, Mike Nichols’ direction, the performances of Dustin Hoffman, Anne Bancroft and Katherine Ross, the music of Simon and Garfunkel. It’s droll yet dramatic, absorbing and profound all at the same time. A very appetizing film all around. Dustin Hoffman has rarely been better than in The Graduate, although he has certainly given many other pleasing performances (Midnight Cowboy, Rain Man, Kramer Vs. Kramer) . However, even more than those pictures, Hoffman will always be remembered for The Graduate and his portrayal of an awkward young man trying to win a absorb on his life.
Also worth noting in particular is the direction of Mike Nichols. He truly gives the film a recent visual style to create it an experience rather than honest a comedy/drama. Designate the opening credits with Hoffman on an airport though-provoking sidewalk situation to the tune of Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence”. Nichols’ uses cuts very interestingly in several scenes such as the scene where Benjamin jumps up on his raft in the pool, and lands in bed with Mrs. Robinson. He also uses zooms to stout enact throughout the film. Nichols’ Best Director Oscar for this film was well-deserved. I mediate that Hoffman’s performance should have won also, as well as the screenplay by Calder Willingham and Buck Henry.
One other thing that I must mention is that The Graduate absolutely must been seen in its new aspect ratio! If you’re not watching a widescreen version, then you’re not watching The Graduate. The film was shot in the Panavision process with an aspect ratio of 2.35:1. Mike Nichols makes improbable utilize of the 2.35:1 frame, so the film will be absolutely botched in pan and scan. The DVD is adequate, but this film deserves distinguished better. The disc is labeled a special edition, but it’s really too skimpy to be that. At very least you’re getting a widescreen version of the film. However, the transfer is not enhanced for 16:9 televisions. What we need is a fully remastered 16:9 transfer which would be immensely advantageous. The record quality is delicate, but could be so remarkable better. It’s really radiant what contrast a effect unique remastered 16:9 transfer can beget for an older film like this. Unbiased leer at the unusual DVD of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. The film also deserves better supplemental materials. A better documentary and a commentary by the filmmakers would be enormous. A seperate commentary by Dustin Hoffman would be even better. I’m convinced that someday The Graduate will receive a friendly DVD edition, and I will wait until then to catch it.
Looks like MGM finally is giving “The Graduate” a grownup DVD.

The Mike Nichols film has suffered through the DVD era so far, represented by a series of double-dip issues that perpetuated the same sorry source materials: grainy describe, grating audio — the typical first-generation DVD blahs.
Here comes “The Graduate: 40th Anniversary Edition,” due Sept. 11. Fox’s specs present 2.35:1 widescreen with DTS and Dolby Surround. This appears to be in apt widescreen. (The previous DVDs’ version apparently was created by throwing letterboxing atop the full-screen version. Seems the guy who was so astronomical on plastics got into the home video business.)

I’m not distinct if anybody will ever decide the genuine motives tedious Lope of the Pink Panther (is it a cash cow or a tribute to Peter Sellers? ) but there’s definitely no denying that this is a peculiar, daft mess of a movie.

As is famous, Blake Edwards managed to unfounded the appearance of his slow star by taking a batch of Sellers/Clouseau footage that was left on the cutting room floor and matching these together with unusual scenes. This is obviously a unpleasant view and it shows; the first 45 mintues is a jumbled hash but I did like some of the indivdual Clouseau bits during this time. If you don’t mind the mess, the first half should be delectable. However at some point, Edwards ran out of useful deleted material so he has Clouseau “vanish” and rest of the movie acts as a Sellers tribute. Marie Jouvet, a reporter trying to figure out where Clouseau might be, interviews characters from earlier movies and these interviews bits are passe to spolight Clouseau scenes from these movies. The tribute half is not that moving to be fair and leads nowhere. Joanna Lumley isn’t a very superior leading actress and this doesn’t back matters. In a right bizzare twist, David Niven, playing Sir Charles Litton again, was terminally ill when he did his scenes and couldn’t remark well. His insist is dubbed but the voiceover sounds nothing like Niven at all.
I wouldn’t recommend Stride unless you’re a die-hard Sellers fan. If that’s you, unbiased glimpse the first half for the Clouseau bits and then shut off the tape when Clouseau vanishes.

Way aid before DVD’s made deleted scenes and outtakes must-see experiences for many, Blake Edwards patched together a “unique” Panther film from scenes left over from previous films. These scenes would have been immense extras on DVDs for other Panther movies. Some of them are quite comic in an outtake kind of plan. However, there’s no diagram that this patchwork constitutes a precise movie. And the half-hearted attempt at making this a “tribute” to Sellers in the credits comes across as exceptionally fake when one considers that Edwards continued to invent two poor Panther films without Sellers.
